Asia Cup Cricket: Nepal goes down to Sri Lanka by 1 run
Kathmandu- Nepal lost to Sri Lanka by 1 run in the U-19 Asia Cup Cricket tournament that began in Sri Lanka on Thursday.
Chasing a victory target of 228 runs, Nepal were all out in 49.3 overs with 226 runs on the board. Dipendra Singh Ayer, who top-scored for Nepal with 90 runs was the last man out.
Earlier put into bat, the hosts had posted a total of 227 runs at the lost of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Hasitha Bayogoda was the highest contributor to the Sri Lankan total, at 83 runs.
Kamal Singh of Nepal took three wickets while Pawan Sarraf and Dipendra Singh took two and one wicket respectively.
Nepal will now face India on Friday. Nepal is in Group ‘A’ together with host Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia. Group ‘B’ comprises Pakistan, Afghanistan, Singapore and Bangladesh. RSS
